What are some application methods for applying potting compound?2024-01-09T06:03:00+00:00

Common application methods include manual pouring or injection, automated dispensing machines, or vacuum potting techniques, depending on the specific requirements of the components being encapsulated.

Can potting compound be removed or reworked?2024-01-09T06:02:46+00:00

Potting compounds are designed to provide a permanent protective barrier, so removing them can be challenging and may damage the components. It’s generally not recommended unless absolutely necessary.

What are the key properties to consider when selecting potting compounds?2024-01-09T06:02:31+00:00

Important properties include thermal conductivity, adhesion to various substrates, curing time, chemical resistance, flexibility, and operating temperature range.

How does potting compound differ from conformal coating?2024-01-09T06:02:15+00:00

Potting compound is a thicker material used to completely encapsulate components, providing more robust protection. Conformal coatings are thinner and applied to the surface of electronic assemblies to protect against moisture, dust, and chemicals without adding significant thickness.

What is potting compound used for?2024-01-09T06:01:55+00:00

Potting compound is used for encapsulating electronic components to protect them from environmental factors such as moisture, dust, and vibrations. It also enhances thermal conductivity and electrical insulation.
